Organization
From Philip Lindstrom, Chairperson of Subud California
Previously, I sent out an introduction of myself since accepting the role as your Regional Chairperson. Here is the second installment of introductions for the other wonderful persons who have stepped forward to serve on the Subud California Regional Committee. You are also represented by your Center Councilor who attends the Board of Director meetings as a voting member three times a year (If your center doesn't have a Councilor, please elect one!).
Also, check for lots more news about Subud California at www.subudcalifornia.com. Please contact us at our email addresses with questions or comments.
Sincerely,
Philip Lindstrom

Diana Roth, Regional Vice Chair
I am Diana Roth the recently elected Vice-Chair of the region for Subud in California and Nevada. I was opened in London in 1974. My husband Howard and I live in Los Angeles. I have worked in the administration of a non-profit for a number of years and, more recently, as a lawyer. I have served as a helper in Subud for several years and have, many times, experienced the truth of the statement "the latihan is a receiving from God that is beyond our expectations and understanding."
I am grateful for the opportunity to serve our organization as Vice-Chair of the Regional Committee. I understand my primary role on the Committee is to support Philip, Elna, Doug, Henrietta and the Councilors representing the groups in creating an environment in which each member and each group can practice the latihan and grow according to God's will.
Thanks,
Diana

Doug Card, Regional Treasurer
I was opened in 1988 in San Jose. I have held Subud committee positions at all levels of the organization, and served as a Center helper. I have many years of experience in both for-profit and nonprofit organizations. I also owned a retail business and was a real estate broker. I am currently self-employed as a business consultant and registered tax preparer. As Regional Treasurer, I hope to be able to make further improvements in Subud California's financial system.

Henrietta Haines, Office Manager
I am your California Regional Office Manager. I'm so happy to be able to serve the membership and the committee in this way. I keep track of the details - the monthly center reports, insurance, pledge deposits etc. and I keep our important records. I help our hardworking Regional Committee and the Council. I have served as Regional Treasurer twice and local treasurer many times. I have owned businesses and most recently been involved in the renovation of homes.
I was opened in Marin in 1972 and became a helper in 1982. In January, I will finish my term as a National Helper.
My best to all,

Philip Lindstrom: Subud California Chair
At the California Congress session to choose a new Regional Chairperson this past memorial day weekend, I was not looking for a new Subud job. What I did know is how fortunate and grateful I am to Subud and Bapak for the grace and guidance I have received through the latihan. I wanted to give something back. So, despite my apprehensions, I volunteered to test for Regional Chairperson. Initially, no one else was stepping forward. Then Diana Roth from Subud Los Angeles said "I don't really think I am the person for this job but I am willing to test because it is time we put ourselves forward. It is time we all test what is right for Subud and for ourselves". That was it, others stepped forward and we finished the Congress with a new Regional Committee; Philip Lindstrom, Chairperson; Diana Roth, Vice Chairperson; Elna Cooke, Secretary and later Doug Card, Treasurer.
On a personal note, I was raised in Subud going to camps and congresses, opened in 1975 in Santa Cruz. I have done Subud committee work in Los Angeles, New York, and Santa Cruz. I have served as a helper. My wife, Mara, and daughter, Lauren, are opened in Subud. I continue my office practice in Family Medicine in San Jose. My favorite music is flamenco guitar, favorite sport is surfing and favorite TV show is "The Daily Show" with John Stewart.
I want to close with a list of the ongoing responsibilities and accomplishments of the Subud California Council (comprised of the Regional Committee and Center Councilors) and office manager Henrietta Haines. May we continue to listen to our guidance, listen to our members and expand the latihan to all who seek it. Please contact me at Philipchair@gmail.com for any questions, comments. Stay tuned for upcoming announcements introducing the rest of my fearless Committee.
